The Inaugural Post

My humble little blog is dedicated to film, but more precisely, to Canadian cinema. Yes, Canadian cinema is a lively little industry respected by filmmakers, critics and cinemaphiles from all over the world, but here in the Great White North, it is often ignored in favour of big-budget American fare. Why? Well, there are many theories, some applicable and some ridiculous, but except for a few diehard film buffs with swoons of nationalistic pride, Canadian films are rarely seen. Hopefully my blog will address some of these theories in the future and change a few peoples' perceptions about Canadian cinema (or at least the one guy who found my blog when he mistyped "Cancun" in the search engine). Hey, our film industry is more than David Cronenberg and Atom Egoyan (though they're fantastic filmmakers)!

And even though this blog is called "CanCon Cinema", I will review and discuss non-Canadian films as well--you can't love Canadian films without showing some love for film in general.
